I Eat Crayons!

I've had some oil pastels lying around the craft room for awhile now. I've never used them before, I've always been drawn to watercolours or acrylic paint. But I figured now is a good enough time to try them out! I decided that I would create a ATC (its been awhile and I LOVE ATC!!) Figured its the perfect size to have a play with a new product that I'm really not 100% sure how to use...

At first I just drew on some card stock to see what it looked like, I wasn't convinced so I smudged it with my finger and was happier with this outcome. Id say its like playing with very soft crayons.

I used book paper stuck to the ATC sized card stock as the back ground, I applied red, orange, and yellow and blended it with my finger. I then drew a (not so scary) "monster" also on book paper stuck down to card stock and coloured him in with yellow and green (again using my finger to blend in the colours). I then cut him out. It needed more... so I outlined him with inktense black pencil and smudged black oil pastel around the ATC. Printed off the saying "I Eat Crayons" cut it out in the shape of a speech bubble...then added googly eyes!

I think he is rather cute! :)
I think he also needs a friend...any excuse to create another ATC and attempt using these oil pastels again!

Entered in to: Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge (cute creatures - cos lets face it he is pretty darn cute!)

I also will enter this ATC into ARTastics March Inspiration Challenge. I was drawn to the bright colours - Red, Orange and Yellow followed by the contrasting white and large black borders. CRITERIA is to use a quote or saying on your submission. Its a pity I have no idea how to draw a cat or a dog! But there is plenty of time to try and submit another entry. :)

This will be my 4th entry this week for Simon Says Stamps Challenge theme: Anything goes.

I also would like to add a BIG thank you to those who have commented on my posts. I LOVE hearing from you! So please feel free to say hello and tell me what you think?

Thanks for stopping by.

  5. This ATC is fabulous!! Kudos to you for venturing into new territory with oil pastels! I haven't tried them yet, but your ATC certainly makes me want to! The colors here are stunning and I really like the beautiful blending you did in the background. The green monster is too adorable for words and I love how he's saying he eats crayons! I appreciate good humor and good art and you've nailed both of these with your creation. It made me smile and I'm so glad you shared your skills with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
