Viva Las VegaStamps! DT Tryout

Image
This week I had a difficult decision as to whether I would or would not return to work from maternity leave . After changing my mind a few times I am happy to say that I've made the right decision for me and will be staying home to look after our beautiful boy! Oh and did I mention that means I will also have to time to create wonderful, wonderful things! (insert really big smiley face here!)   So keeping all that in mind I've decided that I want to be part of a design team, I think its a great opportunity of be creative, to have your art work appreciated, to show/teach other crafters your style, to play with new products (which is always fun!) and something that I've been wanting to do for awhile but just haven't had the time or guts to apply.  So as part of Viva Las VegaStamps application I need to showcase three stamped projects that best represent me and my style. This is going to be hard because I only get to choose three pieces of work and I don't re

BROWN! So my last ATC theme for this month was masculine. This was a HUGE challenge for me, as it took almost 2 weeks for me to even come up with an idea, and even then it wasn't much of an idea, but rather a colour : brown!  Brown... Brown... I don't even like how it sounds! So...I decided to wait...hoping  that something else for this theme would pop into my head, but nothing... Now you're probably thinking: "what's wrong with brown?". There isn't anything wrong with the colour. It's just a colour I normally wouldn't even think of using! Give me pinks, purples, reds even blues but not brown!!! So I decided to go with it and make 'brown' my 'b' word (even though its not really a technique) for my little side project. I created something completely out of my comfort zone and I am still not sure how I feel about it... Here are the finished ATC: I had to buy some brown card stock

A bright and fun card...

Just a quick post to show you a card I made yesterday. It was the quickest card I've ever made!!! Done in less than 15 minutes. I used my alcohol inks to create large spots on glossy paper, then ran it through the printer to add the sentiment 'celebrate'. I added some dimension with punched out circles made from left over card stock, added some tiny splatters using Dylusions Sprays, matted it on blue card and Voilà! Here it is... and... here is another quick card I created a few weeks ago using a crafter's workshop stencil (my not so secret obsession) and some distress inks. I am entering this into the  Artastic  stencil & mask challenge. These are my favourite type of card to create, quick and simple, vibrant colours and lots of fun! Thanks for stopping by. Happy Crafting!   Samantha

So to continue on with my little side project , I decided that I would have a play with alcohol inks on acetate. I used   purple twilight and raspberry, sunshine yellow and pool, and sunset orange and watermelon to created these ATC for the  Scrap it with Attitude  swap. Theme: Things with wings. I used a stamp I bought a while ago from  Market Street Stamps , called 'Believing Butterfly'. Using Memento ink (Black) I stamped it on to white card stock, distressed the edges and added some glitter to the butterfly wings. I then used a dabbing technique with my blending tool to create the front part of my ATC. I just love playing with alcohol inks, each one is slightly different, but they each look fabulous. So much fun...and a little messy! Here are the finished ATC: Quote: "Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit." ~ e.e cummings. Happy Crafting!

Happy Mothers Day...

Image
Well today is mother's day, and yesterday I created this card for my mum (who is absolutely 100% amazing and the bestest mum (and Lola) in the whole wide world!) It also happens to be my first mother's day this year, so a special day indeed. Don't think he did it on purpose...but I got a little sleep in this morning. I have entered this card into the  Mema's Crafts  May anything goes challenge. Theme: mother's day. Happy Mother's Day to all mums out there. Happy Crafting!   Samantha

A little side project...

Recently I've been looking into different techniques, and new products...perhaps not necessary new to the 'crafting' world, but definitely  new to me. I've been creating cards, and scrapbook pages for awhile, but I tend to use the same colours or the same tools or paints. My very own comfort zone for crafting. So...a little side project, one where I will hopefully surprise myself with what I can create.  An A to Z techniques project. I guess like any project I will need some rules...lets use the word 'guidelines' instead.  1. Create something that demonstrates a  different craft technique, card making material, or scrapbooking products.   2. No limitation in what you can create - cards, scrapbooking pages, artist trading cards, tags, etc. (After all I want to be able to leave my comfort zone.) 3. Start with the letter A, follow the alphabet through to Z 4. Do not skip letters (though if there are other opportunities through ATC swaps or chal
