Craftie Cafe: The Same But Different... (Just Add Balloons!)

Image
Recently I’ve been making an effort to use up all the scrap paper that is produced after a card has been made…You know…the strips of paper not big enough to use but too big to throw away! My last few cards for Craftie Café  showcased Jane Doodles:Home Sweet Home stamp and a fun paper piecing technique – but I had so much left over paper that I really didn’t want to throw it away and some of it was already stamped on from an idea that I decided not to do. So today I’m sharing three cards – I decided to do a reversal of colours. Instead of a kraft card base, I’m using a white card base and because I only had strips of paper left I’ve added Lawn Fawns: Party Balloon dies to create this fun birthday card. I’ve also added the sentiment from Jane’s Doodle: Plant stamp set. If you couldn’t guess my inspiration for this card is from the Up movie, I recently watched this with my kids (it’s one of my favourite movies with a sweet story line…) SUPPLIES LIST: ...

Craftie Cafe: Happy Easter #2 (+ Shaker Card!)

Image
Memory Box always has very versatile and cute dies – the Sketch Bunny and Background were perfectly paired together to create so many different options that they were instantly added to my Craftie Café shopping cart so that I could share two ways to create a card with them. The first card I decided I wanted see what these bunnies would look like together. So I created a simple layout that showcased the bunnies. I first die-cut the background bunnies (x6) which I then stamped using Impression Obsessions – Mini Patterns 2 - Cling Rubber Stamp and a selection of lawn fawn inks. I then die-cut the sketch bunny (outline) in co-ordinating colours that matched the inks and then adhered the pairs together. I assembled my card – stamping the sentiment and adhering the six bunnies to my card front. I machine stitched a white border (optional) and I added little pompoms (I’m not entirely sure what they’re called – but they came out of my kids craft box!) for little bunny tails. Here i...

Impression Obsession: Clean and Simple Challenge (Easter's on its Way!)

Image
I had some time extra card making time this week and decided to use this cute little stamp set from Impression Obsession and play along with their current challenge - clean and simple . Here is my card: Supplies Used: Impression Obessesion: Easter Basket stamp set. Lawn Fawn Inks : Grape Soda/Minty Fresh/Ballet Slippers/Celery Stick/Butter Twine White Cardstock My Little Paper World Sequins MISTI Sewing Machine Paper Trimmer Tape Runner/Glue Dots This set had so many stamping options that I couldn't stop at just one card. I created an addition three cards (not so clean - but definitely simple) that you can view below. Stamping the bunnies above was fun but...not as much fun as stamping the eggs! See card below. I love the option of an outline and a block stamp - so many options in terms of stamping, or even colouring. For this card I used the same ink colours to create rows of eggs, highlighting one egg in each row by using the ...

Beth Duff Designs: New Challenge (FREE Digi!)

Image
This is probably one of the brightest cards I've ever created! All inspired by this super cute dinosaur digi stamp which is available (free) over at Beth Duff Designs blog for her very first challenge! This guys little face is how I feel some days - Old but still young at heart, "trying to be cool"... I've caught my eldest child giving me the 'what are you doing' look a few times... I decided to create  a birthday shaker card using a combination of Lawn Fawn and Concord and 9th balloon dies. I created my card base using left over bits of corrugated card and featured little die cut hearts which I then added machine stitched lines in co-ordinating colours. I kept the  same colour theme throughout the card and opted to only colour in parts of the dinosaur using my Copic markers. I call him my little white dinosaur. There are a lot of elements in this card so I went a little over board with some detailed photos below - but there's texture, sparkl...

Elizabeth Craft Designs: Some-bunny Loves You!

Image
Elizabeth Craft Designs has the cutest bunny die! I've made a few Easter cards (for March) which I can't wait to share with you but I couldn't help myself... I had to use this cute bunny die to create an 'I LOVE YOU' card - perfect for valentine's or any occasion where you want to express your 'love'.  Here is my card:  I started off with a white card front (which I had die-cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs - Dashing Rectangles ) and masked off the area I would later adhere my bunny in. I then stamped the sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs - Love Sentiments stamp set alternating in colours to create an 'I LOVE YOU' background. I added some hand stitched elements to the card and adhered it to a light pink card base. The bunny was die-cut using grey and light pink card - areas of the bunny highlighted with a blending tool and a slightly darker ink colour then the card. I assembled my bunny and adhered this to the card. Embellished w...

Craftie Cafe: It's a jungle out there...

Image
So… Craftie Café’s theme this month is summer – which aside from being my favourite season of the year also happens to have endless possibilities in terms of card ideas! I thought sea (water, seagulls, beach, sand, sun, & hats) which then moved to sea animals (fish, whales, & dolphins). I then thought ice-cream and fruit…which…then lead me to BANANA’S (my son’s favourite fruit!) which quickly reared off course to Jungle Safari and MONKEY’S!!! Yup – that’s how my crafty brain works! I used Wplus9 – Whimsy Alphas and Eline’s Monkey die (by Marianne Designs) to create these fun bright and interactive cards (their heads wobble). I also happened to video the card process – which you can view below. I speed it up quite a bit during the stamping of the background as that part is quite repetitive. VIDEO https://youtu.be/DdKA6koSGB0 Below are two more card examples – using the same process but creating different background sentiments. I don’t use...
