Craftin Desert Divas: Cupid Shot Me (Challenge #1)

Image
Happy New Year! I've had a very relaxed, slow start to 2019...Perhaps a little too relaxed as this is my first blog post for the year!  Today I'm sharing a card I created using a freebie I received from Craftin Desert Divas . A perfect stamp to play with for loved themed Valentines cards. I've paired this stamp with a Craftin Desert Divas cloud die. Coloured in with COPIC Markers. I've also decided to get back in to card challenges. Last year I mainly worked on design team projects and forgot how much I enjoy some of the challenges that are available - its a nice incentive to have a play and another reason to keep the blog updated! Craftin Desert Divas: A Christmoose Card

Image
Hello! Welcome! Today I wanted to share a simple background technique that works really well with snowflakes and winter themed stamps. I'm using Craftin Desert Divas lastest release stamp set: Christmoose and the Snowflake Border die.  Card Instructions: Step 1: Create your background by drawing squiggly lines using Copic markers B00 through to B02 on Copic friendly cardstock. Corner punch the top right corner. Card front measurements: 10cm x 14.5cm Step 2: Die-cut three rows of snowflakes using the Snowflake Border die. Step 3: Adhere silver glitter cardstock behind your card front. Using black ink stamp the sentiment. Step 4: (Optional) Add machine stitched details. Step 5: Using foam tape adhere the Copic coloured in moose and snowflakes. Step 7: Embellish with sequins and twine. Adhere card front to an A6 card base. Here are two more card examples using the same technique – it’s a very quick technique perfect for re...

Craftin Desert Divas: Stocking Stuffers (October Release)

Image
It's November! Where on earth did October go? The next few posts I'll be playing blog catch up... October was actually a really awesome month - During the school holidays the family did an overnight camping trip, my middle child turned 4 and last weekend I took part in my first market to sell a few of the handmade cards I've made over the years. It was also a very creative month but slacking in the blog writing department! Here is a card I made for the latest release by Craftin Desert Divas . This stamp set was so cute I decided to pair it up with Winter Wonderland dies to create a very textural card. Stamp: Stocking Stuffers Die: Winter Wonderland Dies Image coloured in with Copic Markers. Happy Crafting! Check out the whole release over at Craftin Desert Divas - October release is now available. Get ready for sneak peeks of the November release.

Craftin Desert Divas: Florals & Fairy tales (Creative Challenge)

Image
During the week Craftin Desert Divas had a Florals and Fairy Tales Creative Challenge. My favourite fairy tales growing up were The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan. I also loved The Last Unicorn movie (which I wouldn't class as a fairy tale) but unicorns are definitely classed as magical and up there with the dragons, princesses and fairies. The Magical Wishes stamp set has all three characters - so it was perfect for this weeks theme. I've created a few mermaid/ocean themed cards over the last few months and I really wanted to create a background that reflected the waves without re-using dies I've previously used to create the sea or waves. This die is from Craftin Desert Divas Fancy Frames and using a few different shades of blue pattern paper and card stock I created a repetitive die cut back ground. I LOVE small dies - especially ones that can create a pattern.  I added machine stitched details and embellished the card with sequins and a twine bow. The stam...

Craftin Desert Divas: September Release

Image
Hello - Welcome! It's September release time over at Craftin Desert Divas . All week the design team has been sharing their cards and inspiration using the latest fun holiday/Halloween themed stamps, stencils, and dies. If you've missed it come join in the fun over at Craftin Desert Divas Facebook Group . Here is one of my cards using the stamp set Doxie Duos which I paired with the new release stencil . I used Distress Oxide Inks - Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Black Soot and a blending tool to outline the stencil.  After this dried I machine stitched the web details. I then adhered my stamped sentiment, and die cut grass. I then added more machine stitched details and embellished the web with Craftin Desert Divas Sequins.  After my card front was finished I moved on to colouring the witch Doxie and pumpkins. I coloured them in with my Copic markers and kept to similar colours used in my background. See below for colour combinations.   This was m...

Craftin Desert Divas: September Mini Release

Image
Have you seen THIS!??? That's right! Craftin Desert Divas mini release for this month is MAGICAL! This stamp set is now available - it comes with a fun stencil and a Summoning Spells sequin pack (available in a release bundle!).  Check out the cards I created using Wizard Trolls : For this card I decided to create a machine stitched, striped paper background that (of course) represents Hogwarts Gryffindor colours. I simply stamped the sentiment and adhered my Copic coloured in characters on my card.   These characters were machine cut with my Silhouette Cameo and this SVG file is also available to purchase on the Craftin Desert Divas webstore for those who prefer not to fussy cut their stamped images. Copic Markers Harry:  Skin: E00/E01/E02/E11/R30 Hair: E55/E57/ E59/E49 Clothing: N1/N3/N5/N6/ Y26/Y28/R37/R39 Broom:E55/E57/ Y26/Y28/E59 Snitch:  Y26/Y28 Ron: Skin:  E00/E01/E02/R30 Hair: R32/R35/ R37 Clothing: N1/N...

Craftin Desert Divas: Shake It Up! (with Fall Fairies)

Image
Hello Welcome! This week the Craftin Desert Divas design team has been sharing shaker cards. If this isn't a card you've created before it is a must try.  For my card I decided to create a little pocket using a mesh material. This requires using a sewing machine to stitch a border that holds the sequin bits in but could also be achieved by hand stitching or using double sided tape, then creating a frame with paper to conceal the tape.  Stamp Set:  Craftin Desert Divas: Fall Fairies Dies: Craftin Desert Divas: Mushroom Border Die / Outdoor Landscape Die Copic Markers: Hair: R21/R22/R24/R27/R29 Skin: E000/E00/E02/R20 Wings: G0000/G000/G00 Clothing: B00/B00/B01/B02/B04/G00/G02/G03/G05 Bunny: N0/N01/N03/N05/N06 Have you tried creating a shaker card before? Is there such thing as too many sequins? If you haven't tried this technique before there is a wonderful video up on Craftin Desert Divas blog by design team member Sherry - check out her ...
