Craftie Cafe: The Same But Different... (Just Add Balloons!)

Image
Recently I’ve been making an effort to use up all the scrap paper that is produced after a card has been made…You know…the strips of paper not big enough to use but too big to throw away! My last few cards for Craftie Café  showcased Jane Doodles:Home Sweet Home stamp and a fun paper piecing technique – but I had so much left over paper that I really didn’t want to throw it away and some of it was already stamped on from an idea that I decided not to do. So today I’m sharing three cards – I decided to do a reversal of colours. Instead of a kraft card base, I’m using a white card base and because I only had strips of paper left I’ve added Lawn Fawns: Party Balloon dies to create this fun birthday card. I’ve also added the sentiment from Jane’s Doodle: Plant stamp set. If you couldn’t guess my inspiration for this card is from the Up movie, I recently watched this with my kids (it’s one of my favourite movies with a sweet story line…) SUPPLIES LIST: ...

Craftie Cafe: Home Sweet Home

Image
APRIL! Already? Where has the time gone? Today I’m sharing a few cards I created for Craftie Café . These cards were intended to be mother’s day (which is fast approaching!) themed cards but they could suit a few other occasions as well. I didn’t feel like colouring when I created these cards – so I chose to ‘paper piece’ instead. I love the look of pattern paper on Kraft card – I chose light ‘earthy’ pattern paper with a geometric and floral element in them. I kind of wanted to go for a quilted look… Here is my card: Video Home Sweet Home Video I also created two additional cards – keeping to the same theme and technique as the first. I’m lucky to have a Silhouette machine that I used to cut out a few of the more detailed images – but good sharp scissors were also used and though it was a little time consuming most of the cutting was done while watching my favourite T.V show. I also added Lawn Fawns – Stitched Circles to create a ‘hill’ scene in one ...

Ink Road Stamps: Majestic AF (a black unicorn...)

Image
I'm back again for Ink Road Stamps with one of my favourite cards I've created for them so far!  I'm using Ink Road Stamps: Majestic AF and though I originally had other plans and a little bit of crafter's block I'm so in LOVE with this stamp and the finished card I made! Here is the link to the IRS blog for more details on how I created these cards and...a free cut file! - provided by the lovely Mary (also on the design team) which helped me unblock my block.  Now on to the cards... Yup, that's right a Black Unicorn! I cut the file (with my silhouette) using black card thinking I'd use it as a stencil - but I ended up loving the contrast in colour and decided to give paper piecing a go since it's been awhile since I've used this technique. After the unicorn was covered (using scrap paper, washi tape and vellum) I stamped my background using the stars and dots from the Majestic AF set. I heat embossed these as well as the s...

Resolutions... 2017 goals!

Image
So personal goals aside (loose weight, drink less sugary drinks, etc) I've made a few creative goals that I'd like to complete in the year 2017. I plan on keeping the 'DO NOT BUY MORE PAPER!' rule I started late last year, and I've been pretty good with sticking to it. I've listed below what I'd like to achieve.  Get on a Design Team.  Create a Video and get a YouTube account. Practice more Watercolour (a lot) Spruce up the blog design... Keep craft room clean (I've failed this one every year...) This month I applied for 3 Design Team opportunities. I haven't heard back from any but will keep trying. I miss that little creative push being on a design team gives and I could do with a little bit of a challenge creatively.   Do you have any creative goals to achieve 2017? Here are two more cards I created using a Itty Bitty Unity Stamp . Thanks for stopping by. Here's to a inspirational 2017 and hopefully a cleaner craft...

Happy New Year!

Image
Yes... I know... I'm well and truly behind this year! Especially with the blog writing! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a safe new year. I was lucky enough to have my husband home for the holiday break plus a little more. It meant getting a lot of those little house hold chores done - like sorting the garage, clearing out some kids toys, fixing lights, cleaning the back yard, flipping mattresses,  buying a new toaster, storing away winter clothes and for me (alone) it also meant catching up on some much needed sleep. It also gave me some time to make cards which is what I will be sharing with you today. I'm a big fan of paper piecing - always have been...when I'm lazy and don't feel like colouring its my go to technique. I made three cards using this cute flamingo stamp from Unity Stamp Co.  Are you big fans of paper piecing? I will say that I generally will choose an image that's relatively easy to cut!  Happy Crafting!...

Still Catching Up!

So most of my cards are stamped with Unity Stamps - I love red rubber stamping and they have such a large variety that I can purchase a whole bunch at a time and get the most out of postage costs! Plus they always have sales! BONUS!  So this card I made a few weeks back, originally with intentions to make it very colourful! Unfortunately time was not on my side, I got the background done (in white) and loved it, so... I left it as is.  I added a few strips of white using My Little Paper World stitched line dies and some white dots with a gel pen.  Happy Crafting!  Samantha These premium steel dies are compatible with most die-cutting machines such as Cuttlebug, Vagabond or Bigshot.  Prices (in AU$) see here and PayPal available. Itty Bitty Stamp - Not so, Itty Bitty Card...

Image
Today I am sharing a card using Unity Itty Bitty - Captured My Heart (Artist Lisa Arana) . These cards were made for their current Unity Challenge which can be viewed here  - Unity [Show & Tell] . I really like this image - so much so...that I decided that I would create a few cards with it. I got a little carried away with the stamp and my MISTI tool. It can be quite difficult to decide when to stop! My first card (below) was originally a line...I then added another line, and then another line and then decided I had to create a background of camera images. I decided to paper piece one camera on each card. I generally don't like fussy cutting (love dies!) but I made an exception for this card, and it wasn't too difficult to cut a few straight lines! :)  Its also a technique I haven't tried in a long time - most likely because I don't like cutting images out... but glad I did as the card came together really nicely. I used pink card and the patterned paper ...
