Throwback Thursday

Image
I've noticed lately my crafting style has changed a little. Not that its a bad change...I love the cards Ive been creating... Being part of a design team, working from a "kit" has meant more paper play than my usual stamping, as well as exploring different ways to use die cuts...but I do miss playing with paints, inks, watercolours and sprays (don't miss the mess...). My inktense pencil, prisma's and tombow markers are collecting dust and its been ages since Ive used gesso and stencils. But with 2 young ones I just don't have the patience or the time to get messy and that's okay for now. :) Today's post is a throwback Thursday - dedicated to time and making mess :) Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a messy weekend! *wink* Happy Crafting! Samantha

Needed a (little) push...

Image
So awhile ago (like the beginning of the year) I created a list of ATC themes for myself. More like I had all these fantastic ideas and thought a ATC challenge would be awesome...  But...looking after a toddler, helping my sister with her wedding planning and invitations, house hold duties and participating in other swaps I haven't had the time or energy to put these ideas to paper.  So with the help of facebook, I sent out a message to one of my swap group pages hopeful that someone would want to do a one on one swap.  The theme I wanted to tackle was House/Home. I saw some great mixed media ideas using book paper and a collage like technique. So I was really excited that someone responded to my message.  I set a time frame which was the end of next month (October) But...the next day she private messaged me and said hers was ready to post!!!! Just what I needed to hear to get my creative gears in full swing! So Jan, thank you ...

Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome! For my first blog post ever I wish to share with you a piece I created during the week. This was a competition challenge from Scrappit  that had to include: mixed media textures, a metal embellishment, at least one stamped image and flowers. This is what I created: Of course I am hoping to win my first ever challenge, but to be honest I am just happy that I created something that isn't something I would normally create. I was also happy to use my Gelli Printing Plate for the second time since I got it and plan to use it again, and again and again.  Here is another picture to show more details: I used white card stock and a masking technique (with ripped paper) to create the border with a mixed media stamp from Prima. I then created the background using acrylic paints and my gelli plate. I also added a page from a random book that you can see under the green grass.  A lot of this was me playing around with masking and stamping...
