StickerKitten: Unicorn Fairground Part.2

Image
Hello! Last month I received my first collection kit from StickerKitten . With it I created a fun set of three cards (you can view them here .) Soon after as I was cleaning up the mess I had made I came up with another layout to use up some more ephemera and pattern paper from their paper packs. Here is the card: Card Instructions: Step 1: Create a card front using pattern paper from Unicorn Fairground paper pack. Use a corner punch to the top right corner. Measurements: 10.5cm x 15cm Step 2: On white card stamp the sentiment 'celebrate' as shown. Trim to size. Measurements: 8cm x 7cm Step 3: Add machine stitched details. (Optional) Step 4: Using foam tape adhere the ephemera and sentiment piece to card base. Step 5: Embellish with StickerKitten sequins and finish off with a twine bow. Adhere card front to a side folding card base. Tips: Instead of machine stitched lines use a white, light purple or light grey felt tip pen to create faux stitch...

Another Masking Tutorial!

Image
As promised I wanted to share another quick photo tutorial. Again using a mask this time with a stencil! This is such a great simple technique - and I do love getting the most out of my inks! So I made two cards using a stencil (Kaisercraft) and Distress Inks - Blueprint Sketch, Tumbled Glass, and Salty Ocean. I first cut some white card stock (canson) slightly larger than my rectangle die (My Little Paper World - Rectangle Nesting Die - TRIBAL) . I taped it down to my craft mat. Taped my stencil, where I wanted the pattern to go. Then I covered the top part (above the stencil) with white printing paper, taped this down. To make sure that I only got distress ink where I wanted the ink to go! Note: I've made many mistakes thinking that I could sponge the ink neatly and not get it everywhere!!! I've come to terms with the fact that I am a messy crafter who needs to take these extra precautions. I started with the lightest colour - ...

A super quick tutorial!

The other day I wanted to try an idea with a stamp set I've had for awhile. I thought I'd take a few quick photos to share my process. Nothing fancy, certainly a technique that many card makers have used but a fun one that can be used in so many different ways! The art of Masking... I first cut a piece of white card (Canson) slightly larger than my 4.25"x 5.5"  rectangle die ( MLPW rectangle nesting dies -TRIBAL ). I marked where the die would cut so I could work out where to stamp the images. Using Unity 'under the sea'  stamp set I stamped the jelly fish 5 times in a row.   I used post-it notes to mask off the jelly fish faces.  Once the faces were masked, I used painters tape to mask off another area.  TIP: I also added an extra row to the top to cover all the white, as I didn't want to get any ink on this area.  I chose three distress ink colours - Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid lagoon, and Salty Ocean.  Then using a b...

A Card Tutorial

OMG! I can't believe its July!! Seriously...time is flying by! The next few months are going to be crazy. July, August, September & October are birthdays, birthdays and more birthdays. In August my (not so) little boy (anymore) will be turning 3 and October marks my baby's first birthday! They both just need to STOP growing...  So...for me this means birthday planning, attending parties...Oh! and did I mention a family ski holiday that's fast approaching (totally not organised, but still very excited). Crazy times ahead...but I love crazy and to make things more interesting I'm making more cards then ever...Whoohoooo! I wanted to start off July by sharing a card tutorial with you. I always wanted to share more with my blog readers. I personally love watching YouTube videos and getting inspiration and new techniques from many of the crafty blogs I follow. I'm not quite ready to make a video but I thought I'd at least take some photos to show you ...
