The Cut Shoppe: Guest Designer Part. 2

Image
Today I am back sharing my second set of cards I created as guest designer for The Cut Shoppe. Here is the first of two cards using the cut file Flutterby . I've seen these beautiful butterflies used on so many scrapbook pages - I wanted to challenge myself and see if they could be re-sized in a way to fit on a card. I knew the whole butterfly circle wouldn't fit on my card - so once I had re-sized it to a suitable size I selected areas that would be featured on the card. I managed to get five butterflies on my 5 x 7 inch card and used bright coloured card and vellum to add colour and dimension to the butterflies. Both cards have machine stitched details and have been embellished with sequins and a twine bow. The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft Designs: General Sentiments stamp set. Here is my second card: Hope you enjoyed my guest featured cards for The Cut Shoppe - Thank you Ashley for the invitation to create with you cut files.  Hap

The Cut Shoppe: Guest Designer

Image
Hello! Today I'm guest designing for The Cut Shoppe! I was a little nervous when Ashley invited me to guest design using her cut files. I LOVE my silhouette but aside from using it to cut out stamped images I hardly use it to it's full potential!  Here are my first cards using Summer Vibes . For this card I decided I wanted to pair the Summer Vibes cut out with Silk Microifine Glitter and sentiments from Elizabeth Craft Designs: Beach Sentiments.   I certainly loved the challenge of putting these two products together. The card stock I like to use is quite think, adding the double sided tape to specific areas of the pineapple meant I had to take this into account when adjusting my cut settings. For this I put my blade up to 9 (keep in mind I'm probably due to replace it!) and used the double cut feature. Once I was happy with my cut settings I was able to cut my resized pineapples and use a burnishing technique to add the silk microfine glitter to whe

Craftin Desert Divas: Designing with Dies (Designer Creative Challenge)

Image
Hello - Welcome! Today I'm sharing three cards I created using a single die. This is probably the easiest way I know how to create with dies - specifically border dies.  Here is my first card. Rather then colour in this Craftin Desert Divas - Flower Border Die I used left over card stock and created a repetitive pattern with machine stitched details. I went with a monochrome colour scheme and didn't even bother about keeping true to a flower colour palette. I finished the card off with a sentiment from Craftin Desert Divas - Say It Big stamp set.  This card design is perfect for Thank You, Wedding and Thinking of You themes/style of cards. So for the next two cards I simply changed the sentiment and colours.  Each card is embellished with Craftin Desert Diva sequins and finished off with a twine bow. Supplies Used: Craftin Desert Divas Flower Border Die Say It Big Stamp Sequins Other: Cardstock - White/Light Pin

Craftin Desert Divas: Skatin By!

Did you miss out seeing Crafting Desert Divas July stamp release ? I've created a second set of cards using the Skatin By stamp set. This time I've combined them with the Star  Galaxy Stencil and used black as my card front. The skating critters really pop off the card! This stamp set is perfect for boys but I know a few girls who would also love a skating themed cards - so I made a few to add to my card stash. Colouring in these critters was easier then I thought it would be - I chose a few colours I knew would work well together...blues, greens, pink and orange. I've listed the Copic markers I used below and you can view a quick colouring video of the bunny I made for a previous card - here . Copic Markers Bunny - W0/W1/W3/W5 Moose - E21/E23/E25 Ram -  W0/W1/W3/W5/W7 Possum -  E21/E23/E25 Fox - R000/R00/R01/R02/R05 Cheeks/Ears R00/R01 Skateboards/Clothes: Y00/Y02/Y04/Y06 B000/B00/B01/B02/B04 YG0000/YG00/YG01/YG03/YG05 YR000/YR00/YR

Elizabeth Craft Designs: July Challenge (Summer Fun with Words & Numbers)

Image
It's challenge time over at Elizabeth Craft Designs .  Summer Fun with Words & Numbers  –  It’s summer time so let’s make summer themed cards this month. Also include either the Blackboard Alphabet or Blackboard Numbers on your project in some way. Here is my card: I decided to use the Blackboard Alphas dies and create my own summery sentiment to go along with the watermelon die from the Backyard Barbecue set.  As you can see I had a little fun with Elizabeth Craft Designs Microfine Silk Glitter and decided to use Green and Fuchsia  to highlight the letters and the watermelon. I added some fun stitching, and embellished the card with a twine bow and some enamel dots. Each challenge Elizabeth Craft Designs host a giveaway, be sure to leave your comment on  THEIR blog post or Facebook Giveaway Post . Three lucky winners in a random drawing  will be announced on their blog on Friday, July 20th. Happy Crafting - Check out what other members of the E

Elizabeth Craft Designs: Miss You

I've got this beautiful card up on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today with full step by step instructions!  One thing I love about working with dies is how simple they are to create with - I had originally planned to colour the leaves in with Copic markers, but after colouring one in with I realised that it would take quite a decent amount of time and that I could achieve an equally striking and bright look by using some scrap left over pieces of card stock that I have in my stash. Supplies List: Elizabeth Craft Designs: Soft Finish Card Stock General Sentiments Stamp Lady Bug Die Dashing Rectangles Die Curvy Leaves Die Velvet Sheets Other: Sewing Maching Cuttlebug Sequins Versafine – Black Onyx Ink 3d Foam Tape Corrugated Card Using corrugated card stock gives the leaves a nice textural element, even though it gets squished in the cutting process... I also added a few stitched lines and embellished the card with sequins and twine
