Growing in Unity: Day 3

Another day, another card!

I decided to change it up a little with these cards. I've had this set for awhile now and I got it because of its layering potential! I'm also Lisa Arana's (artist) biggest fan! This set comes with quite a few sentiments - another reason to love Unity designs. They give you plenty of sentiment options to take a stamp set and create a whole bunch of cards with it! That's pretty much what I did here...

I created this cards using Unity: ...Smile, it's your day.

I sometimes find choosing colours quite challenging, so to help inspire me I did a quick Pinterest search for spring palette. I picked a few ink colours (Altenew inks) and started stamping away! I used my MISTI to assist in the stamp process and will admit that it is more challenging to layer a rubber stamp then a clear stamp - but I wasn't aiming for perfection! I first stamped my based colours and went over them with the outline stamp and didn't mind if they didn't line up perfectly...

I had a bit of time when I was creating this card and was lucky enough to create  another two more cards. So I decided to play around with colours - introducing shades of grey into the ink mix and came up with the card below.

The final card I decided to use the flower in the set that I hadn't used for the first two cards.

All cards have a masking element in them - once I decided where my sentiment would go I masked that small area off with masking paper. I wanted these to be single layer cards because I knew I would machine sew a border around the sentiments. I also outlined the flowers/leaves with a glitter pen to add another element to the card and finished each card of with a few My Little Paper World sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'm loving the comments and positive feedback so far...keep them coming! At the end of my GIU week 2 lucky winners will be drawn to win a grab bag prize pack!

Happy Crafting!

  18. The dangerous thing about GIU and the Unity group is you see people use stamps you'd never seen before, or even more so, saw but not considered, and then all of a sudden you think yeah, I want that one. I probably would have dismissed this set, but I really like that last card you made.
